Claude Montana Returns!

Well, he wants to at least.

The 61 year old designer whom we spotlighted a few months back, has his eyes set on the fashion world again according to WWD.

His very last show was in 2002.

Click here to see our spotlight on this legendary man!

What do ya say, should The King of the shoulder pads make a comeback? I think so.

Bring it on Mr. Montana!

Long Live Grunge!!

Wow where do I begin?
I'll start off by saying Grunge is one of my favorite genres of all time!
It made a lasting impact on both my life and popular culture despite its super brief lifespan.
Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains paved the way for modern alternative rock.

Born in Seattle Washington during the late 1980's, Grunge music is described as messy and un-refined with roots tracing back to punk and metal. It is comprised of distorted electric guitars, grumbling vocals, and lyrics that express a number of topics from Social rejection to Politics.

The simplicity of Grunge rock translated to clothing too.
A stripped down anti-fashion attitude developed to coincide with the gritty sound which included untidy hair, flannel shirts, ill fitting jeans, baby doll dresses and anything else that could be found at thrift stores for cheap.

Ironically, this look hit mainstream and now Grunge is considered a fashion statement.
Famed designer Marc Jacobs brought it to the catwalk during the mid 1990's.

Mary-Kate Olsen is particularly known for resurrecting the grunge look with her own high fashion twist in 2006. Since then girls everywhere strive to create the perfect 'homeless chic' ensemble.

Despite it's current oversaturation, I will forever love grunge and what it stood for.
Cheers to rebels of the underground!

It's that time of year again!

All the zombies are coming out tonight.

The towns people will be filled with fright.

But party with them don't be scared.

There's yummy candy and pretty costumes everywhere!

Fashion Term of the Day: Double Breasted

Ever come across fashion related terms and not know what they mean?

Thanks to my inquisitive nature I always run to the dictionary, but some people just don't have the patience for all that.

So I am here to help, Ferocious Fanny to the rescue! I will be bringing you words and phrases that are used to describe different articles of clothing.

Today's term is Double Breasted.
Double Breasted is used to describe a style of Coat or Suit Jacket, even Blazers and Cardigans with two parallel rows of buttons on the front. It originated from jackets worn by Navy sailors in the early 1900's.

Throughout the 20th century, specifically 1930's to 1950's double breasted suit jackets were a staple in every man's wardrobe. Eventually women joined the bandwagon as well. Decades later from the 1980's to 1990's a double breasted revival was born.

This militant influenced outerwear isn't as popular as before, however it still remains a classic. Let's just say things have gotten way more casual over the years.

Next time you are out shopping and the tag says Double Breasted that's exactly what it means. We learn something new everyday don't we?

Prince Charles Supports Vintage?

Well what do we have here? Prince Charles seems to love Vintage clothing as much as we do woohoo!

In the September issue of British Vogue, he discusses his affinity for re-using old clothing and the importance of preserving our dear planet through fashion.

"Vintage clothes and upcycling are just the start because they save scarce resources and avoid waste. The great strength of the fashion world is that it knows how to make new ideas attractive and to do so rapidly and on a grand scale—something that is essential if collective action is to have a genuine impact on the problems we face. Fashion clearly makes people feel good, but now it has to do the world good, too, by contributing to the creation of a virtuous circle, with nature protected at the center."

Prince Charles, Princess Keisha Omilana.....seems like royalty all over the world appreciate Vintage goodness!

NAME/AGE/STOMPING GROUNDS
Princess Keisha Omilana
Forever 21...
Born in Inglewood,CA..Currently residing in NY, NJ, and London

EVERY DAY I'M HUSTLIN', HUSTLIN', HUSTLIN' AS...
A Supermommy, Supermodel and Supermogul

QUICK, DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE IN 5 WORDS OR LESS...
Sassy, classy, fashionable, sexy, and elegant

WHAT'S YOUR "TO DIE FOR" FF PIECE CURRENTLY IN YOUR CLOSET?
Wow...for me it's IMPOSSIBLE to pick just one!
It really depends on "who" I'm dressing for that day..
I have a black lace Stevie Nicks number that I wear for my hubby and Prince outings...

I have a cute, sassy Vintage Laura Ashley dress that I just adore
and wear to the playground with my 3 year old...
Then there's the hot pink floor length dress that is a head turner
Like I said...I can't pick just one!
ALL MY FF PIECES ARE TO DIE FOR!!!!

ITEM IN YOUR CLOSET YOU NEED TO RETIRE BUT JUST CAN'T...
There is that one see-through fuschia mesh shirt that might need a little break!
I'm a mommy and a princess now...
Can't exactly go around with my nipples all out!
But then again...LOL!

WHO DO YOU LOOK TO FOR INSPIRATION, STYLE WISE?
To be honest, no one person in particular
I love looking at the shows in Paris, NYC and Milan
But my all time favorite inspiration is TCM (Turner Classic Movies)
Then I just call my favorite Fanny to see if she has anything for me!

MY WEIRDEST TALENT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT...
I can imitate almost anyone!

I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT...
My hubby, my 3 year old, my family
fashion, designer shoes with 5" heels or more...
and of course my Funky Fanny's Vintage Gear!!

IF YOU COULD BE A SUPERHERO WHO WOULD YOU BE? WHY?
Probably Wonder Woman...
Because I would look SO HOT in the outfit and she's dope
I'd also love to have her boobs!!

WHEN YOU SING IN THE SHOWER YOU SOUND LIKE?
Just like Mariah Carey and Celine Dion...
When they have a sore throat!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU ON THE DAILY?
Without a doubt my 3 year old Prince
Watching how happy and blessed he is inspires me to keep at it...
Even when all I hear is "No," "No Thank You," "You Can't"
and "Do Something Else!"

WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU BE DOING IF YOU DIDN'T CHOOSE THIS PATH?
I can't even imagine life doing anything else than what I am doing!

WHICH SATC (SEX AND THE CITY) CHARACTER DO YOUR FRIENDS SAY YOU ARE?
Well no one has told me this but I do have the personality of Charlotte York!
I am a perfectionist, a planner
I have everything mapped out...
I know exactly what I want and at what age/time I should get/have it
And I'm a hopeless romantic.

ANY PEARLS OF WISDOM FOR THE YOUNGINS ON THE COME UP IN MODELING?
Always know your worth!
Never let an agent or booker tell you your look is not right for any project
Never give up on YOU!
Always be nice, pleasant to be around and a joy to work with
NEVER NEVER share with everyone your dreams and goals!!!
Create them, write them down in your journal
Pray about them, then...
SHOW THEM!

IF YOU WERE ON TEAM FUNKY FANNY'S, WHAT FANNY WOULD YOU BE? WHY?
Without a doubt...FASHIONABLE FANNY!
'Cause fashion is my passion and I am one fashionable lady...
Thanks to Funky Fanny's of course!

Princess Keisha Omilana not only wears crowned jewels
But is one in her own right!
Personality,Beauty, AND Sweet as Sugar!

SPOTLIGHT: Carlos Falchi

If you haven't heard of Carlos Falchi, today is your lucky day!

Carlos Falchi is a Brazilian-born handbag and accessories designer well renowned for his high quality pieces and his use of exotic skins and leathers.

At the age of twenty, he moved to New York where he worked as a busboy.
It was here that he came in contact with rock and rollers and started designing stage costumes for
Mick Jagger, Tina Turner, and even the king himself, Elvis Presley!

Falchi got his big break in the 1970's when he showed his designs to
Geraldine Stutz, former president of Henri Bendel.

For over 30 years, Falchi has been designing bags with classic style.
His bags are soft and unstructured and often combine colors and patterns for a whimsical look.

His bags are showcased in movies such as Sex and the City and
enjoyed by celebrities from Madonna and Cher to Rihanna and Blake Lively.

Carlos Falchi has also made an impact in the environment!
He has tried to create farm-bred, exotic skins which would protect the species, boost employment in developing regions, and provide environmental controls.

In 2004,  he received the Lifetime Award from the Accessories Council.
Many of his bags are also showcased in the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Musuem of Art.

Recently, Falchi made a line of more cost efficient bags for Target and HSN with the same craftsmanship that is evident in all of his work.

Here's to you Carlos Falchi for creating bags with an exotic flair that has never ceased!!

American High Style-Brooklyn Museum

American High Style is an exhibit going on at the Brooklyn Museum in conjunction with Polyvore, highlighting innovative designers from the past who made an impact on American fashion.
Last weekend I went on a solo Fanny mission to check it out!

Notebook...check! Pen...check! Camera...check! Stuffed my backpack and off I went.
It was Vintage paradise filled with garments, accessories, shoes, and even original sketches dating back to the 1800s. Oooh lala! Check out my favorites:

This elegant evening outfit is an early 70's creation by American designer Norman Norell. Capturing the essence of that period..It's billowy and glamorous!Aren't the beaded pants amazing?and the bow and poets sleeve!
DELISH!

Christian Dior (whom really needs no introduction) designed some of the beautiful footwear on display. I see oxfords and caged shoes were considered chic back then as well. How cool is that?

Dress to the left by Cristobal Balenciaga in 1945 and to the right also Christian Dior in 1952.

A 1960's blue bandeau dress by Hubert de Givenchy and a 1950's Yves Saint Laurent cocktail dress.. Both with bows that add girly charm galore!

A frilly Black number by none other than Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel in 1965. It felt very surreal standing in front of a piece designed by the legendary Chanel herself.

New York born designer Charles James made these lavish silk gowns during the 1950's. Known as America's first couturier, his work was largely recognized for it's elaborate construction and luxurious materials.

Puppies have to be fly too!

London based designer John Cavanagh is the master behind these three items made in the 1960's. He had a very successful run as a couturier for 10 years with his eponymous house 'John Cavanagh'.

Red bottoms on shoulder of the jumpsuit remind me of Christian Louboutins!

This exhibit is a must see, so run to the Brooklyn Museum before August first. If you love vintage you'll enjoy.
For more information on the exhibit click here.

Fanny mission complete!
